(By Rosalyn Margolis “Be a Blessing” Committee Chair – Scribing Volunteers)
I love hearing the chatter going around about our People’s Torah Project as excitement builds with more and more congregants learning the depth and breadth of the 613th mitzvah to create a Torah. Whether members are scribing together as a family, as a duo, or in private, time slots are filling up fast and very few times remain for the upcoming Sunday, February 9th Scribing session. Register now to preserve a time slot.
If you are able, enhance your scribing experience by taking some time before or after your scribing session to enjoy our informative and interactive “stations,” several of which are designed specifically to create learning opportunities for the kiddos. And speaking of the “stations”, we really need assistance at each of our upcoming Scribing Sundays: February 9th, March 9th, April 6th and May 4th, 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Just email me your preference or visit the volunteer page!
On a personal note, the actual moment of scribing a letter, that is, the touching of a kosher quill onto the kosher parchment and seeing the black ink fill in the chosen letter, can be quite emotional as well as over-whelming. Allow yourself to take it all in with a few deep breaths and perhaps a heartfelt thanks to G-d for this most incredible opportunity.
